http://www.betanews.com/article/RIAA-broadcasters-want-mandatory-FM-radio-in-cell-phones-electronics/1282066883

give that a read.

My title refers to the fact that when radio was new and young the music industry(for runners of the riaa) where very against it and said it would ruin the music industry.
now this same industry wants to make it mandatory that cellphones and other devices can receive radio broadcasts.....

what next, are they going to demand devices get tape recorders(another thing that they said would ruin the music industry) or or or, I could list so many more times they
have said crap like that, the latist being the internet/internet "piracy", yet they still make record profits....

Ah, but the RIAA gets payments now from the Radio stations to play the music in the airwaves. To that end, Radio stations fill the airwaves with adverts to make money.

More to the system than just this as well.

A building of affairs to ensure dissension would exist in fewer hands.

yeah i know about them making money off radio, its just funny how every new tech is going to ruin their industry, but then years later they fight to keep that tech alive.

Currently its the internet thats "ruining them" because piracy is evil and bad...to bad the studies dont concur with that assessment

Once again the music industry has come out with disappointing results for physical music sales, which they blame entirely on file-sharing. What they failed to mention though, is that their findings show that music pirates are buying more digital music than the average music consumer. Since digital music is the future, pirates are the industry’s most valuable customers.

Have you ever heard one of the major movie studios complaining about the decrease in sales of VHS tapes? We haven’t. The music industry on the other hand continues to blame the decrease in physical sales on digital piracy, ignoring the fact that there’s a generation growing up that has never owned a physical CD.

funny how they are fighting those who buy more of their stuff then the average...bloody idiots!!!
