A group of hysterical indi authors got LendInk taken offline
« on August 9th, 2012, 04:49 AM »
LendInk is/was a kindle/nook lending site that matched people who had a book or wanted one with somebody who wanted or had what they needed/wanted to read, these authors thanks to one hysterical idiot went ape and sent threats and takedown notices to the site owner AND his host, note: what he was doing was and is 100% legal and ethical, and leads to more sales for these authors.

I would request that anybody whos interested in reading please not support any of these authors and help compile a list of authors who took part in this idiotic knee jerk reaction.

http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20120807/21080519958/legit-ebook-lending-site-taken-down-angry-twitmob-writers.shtml

http://www.allonbooks.com/home.html is home of one of the authors said to have started this flood, shes disabled commenting and removed the post from her blog taking credit for being the one who got the site taken down(starting this whole mess)

this thread should be checked for other authors some have posted others are listed.

Couple of things.

1) How stupid are these "authors"?
2) The fact that I've never heard of them must mean they write trash novels.
3) I can understand Lendinks creators reaction to not bring it back, but personally I'd be tempted to just to rub it in their faces.

thank you greatly farhorizon, and let me be clear, nobody here would make threats to them, and if it was found a new member did, they would be banned....

The worst I would guess this list may be used for by somebody is to find as many of these idiots works for TPB distrobution as possible(not me, i dont use tpb nore do any other AT members that i know of)   I would LOVE to see them try and get TPB taken down or get their works removed from TPB.....the lulz would be wondrous to behold....

and DN thats why I made this post, these people are fucking IDIOTS tho CANT FUCKING READ...

apparently a few of them are decent writers from some posts I have seen, but their actions prove they lack any sort of reading comprehension, and they also do not read their contracts when they sign them....hence their outrage at people lending books that the author choose to make lendable....

I do not want to see these people threatened, It would be good if others likemyself take the worst of them and send emails letting them politly know that their names are on a no-buy-list....I think many of them need a wakup call.....really really baddly...

 Special mentions go to :

Aimée Reinhart Avery (belittling posters), Renaissance Romance Publishing (yes, a publishing house that cannot be bothered to investigate), Shawn Lamb (unremorseful), Danielle Yockman (abusing/belittling posters esp. with comments like "Doubt you would've bought a copy anyway. *shrugs*")

 Authors who apologised:

 Jennifer Hanning

Authors who actually took the time to investigate and found no wrongdoing:

Michele Poet, Philip Catshill, Shanon Nowell
I almost thought it was fh that posted it but, its not organized enough for that :)

I'm all for not patronizing and warning people away, but I can't condone people that attack, threaten, pirate; it makes you know better then they are. They took things too far, and there are ways to balance it without taking them too far.

i agree on all but the piracy part, but then only because i would LOVE to watch these people try and get TPB taken down, and would love it even more if i could watch them try and get individual torrents for their works taken down.....

i know, its wrong to find that thought amusing but.....i cant help it....the thought of watching them charging windmills makes me laugh.

Added more updates.  Will finish later!

I dunno, I think it's an insult to the pirate bay to post their stuff there.  It also would require gaining a legit copy first ... I don't see any reason to buy a book from these ppl.

oh i bet alot of their works are already around if you know where to look......i couldnt be arsed to look personally......

and to be clear, i wont be the one doing that, but i would bet you somebody does it "for the lulz"  as it where......when they do, I soooo hope i hear about it and can get a link to that page, I want to see them freak out and try and get TPB taken down.......or try to appeal to/threaten the staff of TPB that will be quite funny.....

and thanks again fh, i have been forwarding this post/thread to people I know who can add the info to mailing lists that go out to readers.....it should help cut down the number of sales they get.......(the bad ones) and may get the good ones some extra publicity.
